Situated in Clanwilliam, the charming Longhouse Guesthouse is the ideal place from which to explore the village, the rugged beauty of the Cederberg or the Atlantic Coast.
The guest house is set in a beautiful, well-maintained garden and overlooks the mountains and paddock. Guests have a choice of five lovely double en-suite rooms with air-conditioning and heating facilities. Furnished with Cape Dutch antiques, old oil lamps provide a romantic touch to the rooms which are equipped with mini fridges, tea and coffee facilities and hairdryers. Swimming towels are also provided. Four rooms look out over the pool deck and a fifth has a secluded entrance and garden with access to the pool area.
The communal lounge is comfortably furnished and equipped with a TV and DVD player, as well as books, games and toys. Wireless Internet is available for guests convenience. Breakfast is served in the dining room with its lovely old yellowwood table and guests can enjoy fruit juices, a fruit platter, yogurt, cereal, a bread selection, a cheese board, home-made jams, coffee and tea.
The swimming pool is a blessing on hot days and guests have access to a built-in braai in the garden with seating, or a stand-alone Weber braai on the pool deck. Secure off-street parking is also available.
Various activities can be enjoyed in the area such as hiking, mountain biking, quad biking, 4x4 trials, horse riding, birdwatching and rock climbing to viewing historical San paintings. The tourist office is situated across the street and guests can enquire about appointment-only tours of the game farm, the Rooibos Farm and factory or the museum and art gallery.
