Overview
The Legendary Nottingham Road Hotel was built in the 1890s and is historically known as one of the oldest pubs in KwaZulu-Natal. This old-style hotel has 14 en-suite rooms, and 10 modern Garden Suites, both twins and doubles. There is a beautiful restaurant on site serving an a la carte menu which caters for all meals. Within close proximity to the hotel is the Gowrie Farm Golf Course which is a well designed and beautifully manicured 12 hole course. The area boasts plenty of unique craft shops, fly fishing, cheese, beer and wine tasting, as well as many well known country eateries all within five minutes of the hotel. The hotel with its historical charm, warm and friendly staff and festive atmosphere is a definite stopover for any visitor to the Midlands. "Could be so much better"

"We enjoyed our stay at the Nottingham Road Hotel. The rooms were clean, the linen and bed were clean and comfortable. But... little things tend to mar the whole experience. The fact that we didn't have warm water on the first morning of our stay was uncomfortable, but they fixed that asap. The fact that there wasn't soap for washing hands, and they did not replace the tiny bottle of shower gel the whole 4 days we were there, were not expected of a 3 star hotel. The room we were in, was close to the vent for the restaurant below, and we were unpleasantly blasted with cooking smells the whole time. Maybe they could just extend the 'chimney'? But, that all said, we would not mind staying there again. They only need to look more closely at the little things..."

"Although the staff are very helpful and food is good, the hotel relies far too much on it's historical appeal."

"We only stayed one night at the Legendary Nottingham Road hotel. On first impression, we had our doubts. But the rooms were clean, cosy and the beds comfortable. The room we had was large and spacious. The shower wasn't great. Our evening meal was exceptional!!Staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you!"

"A VERY disappointing stay to say the least. Our guests from overseas had a room, 14, which leaked as it was raining. They reported that their TV did not work, no concern or action taken.Staff were unfriendly, particularly at breakfast where, there was insufficient milk for cereals and tea !! Cleaners strolled trough the restaurant to remove the waste from the kitchen as we were having breakfast, really!!! The hot water boiler was indicated as OUT OF ORDER, yet was actually working when we requested hot water. Disturbingly, the law was clearly flouted with Patrons smoking in the bar area and not one member of Staff on Duty, took any action.Another concern was that there appears to be no FIRE fighting facilities or warning systems in place, this in a Hotel which has open fires and with visible woodwork everywhere. I saw no FHR's or Extinguishers or Smoke detectors anywhere!! I would not recommend this "Historic/Legendry Hotel""
