Matlapa Lodge is situated in Magaliesburg with the most beautiful natural surroundings on 60 hectares of pure countryside.
Enjoy a magnificent view and the most beautiful sunsets. The thatched roofs and stone masonry add to the natural earth-like charm.
The accommodation consists of en-suite thatched chalets with old-fashioned baths, an outside shower and wooden decks. They are furnished with antique beds and cupboards that complete the romantic picture.
Each chalet is well placed in a garden to secure privacy amongst the 70 species of indigenous trees and South African flowers in bloom throughout the year. Bird species are present in abundance.
A restaurant with a magnificent view provides a combined breakfast as well as a three-course meal on prior arrangement. Matlapa Lodge is a malaria free zone and we are situated 16 km from Maropeng with the Cradle of Humankind.

"The view an surrounds we not great but the cottages were lovely inside. Fire wood was available at reception but we did not find very friendly assistance. Visit the nearby Black Horse Brewery - this will make your trip worthwhile."

"I'm so dissapointed. We didn't get a warm welcoming from the owner. He is so rude. It looked like we were lost when we arrived. The grass is not well taken care of. Rooms are not clean enough, there's spiders in every room, we couldn't sleep. When we went to the pool area we had to call one of the housekeepers to escort us because we are afraid of dogs. There's dogs look like Lions, we told the owner that we are afraid of dogs, in he's own words "they won't bite you, they smell fear and if you're afraid then they bite you" The place is not as advertised. Safari please do something about this lodge. I wouldnt recommend anyone to go to that lodge."

"Lovely little cottages just out of Magaliesberg town... Rika and Gustav were welcoming as well as all the staff... Clean rooms, delicious simple breakfast, lovely gardens. We really enjoyed our weekend getaway. Will definitely go back for a break from city life."

"Ons het die bespreeking op baie kort kennisgewing gedoen, maar was baie vriendelik ontvang, kamers is baie skoon en die buite lug stort is n belewenis. Matlapa het n pragtige tuin met groot swenbad ek het die naweek daar regtig geniet dt was baue rustig en stil. al at kort is so bietjie van n wandel padjie. daar is nie veel om te doen as mens net by die loge tuisgaan en nie van plan is om rond te ry nie. maar afgesien daarvan sal ek Matlapa vir enige iemand aanbeveel. ek het gegaan omdat ek rustigheid nodig gehad het en ds presies wat ek gekry het. baie dankie aan die annie en die oom daar, hulle is baie vriendelike mense en laat mens regtig welkom voel ek sal verseker weer daar tuisgaan."

"When we got there, it looked like we lost. The garden is not maintained. The reception was okay. The outside showers had spiderweb, the bed is too old n not comfortable. We could go for breakfast cos there were dogs everywhere n they kept barking at us n we scared of dogs. We only stayed one night but we booked for 2. Safari must also do an update on this places m check if they are still up to standard instead of making us book places that are not up to standard cos they don't check. I booked through safari cos I believed they made sure the places are what they are on the pics"

"Accommodation was definitely not as advertised. The picture was not representative of all the rooms. Room was freezing cold. No firewood was provided for the fire. When my friends complained the owner shouted at us and was extremely rude. Would not recommend this accommodation."
