Overview
De Ark Mountain Lodge, with its breathtaking mountain views and ideal location near the picturesque village of Clarens, is a place of restoration for those in need of silence, nature, and solitude. Elevated above the village of Clarens, De Ark is strategically located adjacent to the Golden Gate National Park, and just 7 km from Clarens town centre with its vibrant village life.The lodge consists of seven chalets and one room with en-suite bathrooms. Each chalet has a fireplace and patio, as well as sweeping views of the mountains. There is a fully stocked bar and restaurant at the lodge. Bookings need to be made in advance for the restaurant.The farm boast some of the most beautiful landscapes which can be experienced when taking an early morning walk, mountain bike ride or horse ride amongst the zebra, bontebokke, Black wildebeest, springbok and eland. Mountain biking and trail running is available at the lodge.Our rates are charged per person, with children rates

"The views were really nice and the evenings quiet and peaceful.The standard double storey room was quaint but nothing spectacular.Due to the unit facing directly into the setting sun (west) and accompanying heat, we could not make use of the patio until after sunset.The addition of a patio roof would have been appreciated which I imagine would also allow guests to be outside during rainy spells.As the units are not self-catering and only breakfast is provided, a private braai area or even a weber plus 2-plate stove would have been appreciated...it is not ideal to have an evening out in Clarens and then have to drive back in the dark.Notwithstanding the above, De Ark is in an absolutely beautiful setting and we would return anytime."

"I can t tell you how incredible this trip was thanks to Kelly, Maggie, Daniel and Silas and also the brave night Watchman. Everything that had to do with this trip could not have been possible without the friendliness, service and just pure heartedness of the staff at Dr Ark. Not only did we get an upgrade out of no where but we where welcomed by Maggie and Daniel who already knew our name upon arrival. Evening braais where accompanied by game viewing right on the lawns of De Ark. Animals like an Owl, Zebra, Buffalo, a wide range of Buck and the occasional rabbit. We will frequent De Ark as theyade us feel at home."

"Lovely location from which to explore the area. We found the 4 sleeper chalet a bit cramped for a family of 4, even though our children are small.Neat and clean with friendly staff. Perhaps a bit overpriced for the size of the chalet. Great views, and the children enjoyed exploring the farm. Lovely breakfasts."
