Overview
With the stress of everyday city life, an escape to nature provides a welcome break. Flanked by the Magalakwena River to the East and the mighty Limpopo River and Tuli Block to the North, Bivack Game Lodge has been described by many as one of the most beautiful and wild areas in the world. To truly experience the African bush, its beauty and opportunities is to immerse ones self in the day-by-day observation of this wide variety of game. Observe their tribulations and struggle for survival, for Africa is not a place to be conquered but a land to be savoured and experienced in its diversity. It is also a land of warm and friendly people and Bivack is no exception.Overlooking the Magalakwena River (and home to a family of hippos), the fully staffed main camp consists of 7 en-suite chalets that comfortably sleep 20 people. All chalets are fitted with air-conditioners, hair dryers and en - suite bathrooms. Bivack is also fully licensed and stocks a wide variety of excellent wines. Each day at Bivack offers adventure and relaxation. In the morning, a game walk; for those who enjoy fishing, take some time to catch some yellow fish, carp, mackerel or tiger fish at one of the many beautiful sites along the Magalakwena or Limpopo Rivers Or just relax at the lodges uniquely mopane seed-shaped pool and soak up the bushveld in the warm African sunshine. When the day begins to cool, we set out on a game drive for sundowners at Eagle's Rock, a high observation point overlooking the Limpopo delta and Tuli Block of Botswana. Later, after dinner which was prepared by our cook, a slow burning boma fire lends the opportunity for companionship and the sharing of big stories against a background of star-filled African skies.

"This time not recommendable"
15 Oct 2013
By Kerstin, Germany
"The lodges impression overall was quite nice. It could have been a wonderful special place, if there had been a real manager. Because the lodge is to be sold, there is nearly nobody who feels responsible for maintaining or hospitality. We were lucky to meet there a very friendly and helpful couple which was there on duty just by accident. They made us feeling comfortable as far as possible. Our advice: make sure that there will be somebody by the time you will stay there."
"Run down B&B"
10 Feb 2013
By Marc, Belgium
"After having experienced quite some communication difficulties upon making the reservation for this B&B (especially the manager, ms. Lyzelle van de Merwe let us down), we were wellcomed as the only guests by a nice guy named Munia, i.e. the cook/janitor/receptionist/park ranger all in one.His friendliness and excellent service however couldn't hide the degree by which this place was utterly run down: leaking outside pipes, worn out bathroom with cracked showerhead, peeling paint, a "swimming pool" one expected to be the habitat of a few crocodiles,a gloomy dining room and the overall impression of sadness and decay. Apparently the last visit of the manager, ms. van de Merwe dates back from... late 2011. Clearly a case of insufficient supervision of this sad place by an uninterested management . Never again."

"My stay at Bivack was just what I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The place is beautiful and tranquil, allowing the guest to be totally relaxed and at ease. Our go-to guy Munya was wonderful and very attentive. It was really hard to leave the lodge after our stay. Thank you for a wonderful time."

" Spectacular scenery."

"We chose Bivack to stay over en route to Mapungubwe National Park, but ended up spending more time at the lodge than planned, due to its spectacular scenery. The personal touch provided by the owners is rarely found, which enhanced the experience even more. The natural beauty of the property and the Limpopo bordering it, is something every nature lover will treasure.A superb setting which is highly recommended. Your kids will just love this place, as there is a pair of tame Banded Mongoose playing with them all day long."

"It was an excellent break! It is not often that one has such a fantastic level of service and laid back luxury combined with a feeling of familiarity. It has a wonderful atmosphere the main camp which is totally conducive to relaxation and winding down. The staff and owners are attentative to detail and what makes it so special is that they are incredibly flexible and plans are made in accordance to what can be seen and when.Strongly recommended "
