Set en route to the Cango Caves, in the picturesque Schoemanshoek Valley, Berluda Farmhouse & Cottages is an intimate guest house experience. The ninth generation, Piet and Laura Schoeman, extends a warm welcome and continues the tradition of hospitality offered by mother Rosie. The restaurant offers breakfast and dinner reservations only. Berluda is well known for its authentic South African farm hospitality and traditional South African cuisine.
Individually decorated, the six en-suite bedrooms in the original farmhouse offer homely comforts, air-conditioning and Jacuzzi baths surrounded by apricot orchards amidst lush gardens and a swimming pool. The six self-catering family cottages offer nature lovers ample peace and tranquility in beautiful Karoo surroundings, each with a private braai and Jacuzzi. These units also have access to a swimming pool and childrens playground. Berluda is a must for birdwatchers and hikers. Due to popular demand, we have added two luxury cottages for the discerning traveller. Enjoy the extra comfort and space with breathtaking views of the Swartberg Mountains from the private braai area.
Piet Schoeman runs one of the largest working ostrich farms in the area and was elected the Western Capes Young Farmer of the year 2006. His wife Laura gives a tour in English, Afrikaans, German and Dutch. This is an experience which is not to be missed.
