Bee Eater Self-catering Unit is situated in the private nature reserve of Forest Creek, set in a gorge of the Steinkampsburg Mountains in Mpumalanga. The unit is located near to Forest Creek Lodge, with activities and meals available at the lodge.
The self-catering unit is the ultimate in luxury and outdoor living, equipped with a barbecue, fridge, microwave oven, and gas two-plate stove. Features include a fireplace, full DStv, a his and hers outdoor stone shower, veranda, private garden, and a huge tub for two with lots of romantic candles. The extra-length king-size bed is made up with cotton percale linen and duvets, and a fan, electric blankets, heater, and a bar fridge are also provided. Firewood is supplied for the barbecue.
Activities available at Forest Creek Lodge include a bush bath set in a secluded spot with lots of bubbles and champagne under the moonlight and stars. Spoil your loved one and request a romantic, totally private candlelit dinner under the gazebo. Picnics can be provided for hikers or laid out for the romantics, and there are numerous marked hiking trails through the forest and along the stream. The area offers a prolific variety of uncommon birds species that can be seen including a resident pair of Black eagles. Horse riding and clay pigeon shooting can also be arranged.
If you take the self-catering option you are welcome to book meals and activities at the lodge, we supply firewood.
Dinner is a 4 course meal R250.00 and breakfast is R120.00 per person.
Activities include; Bush bath - set in a secluded spot, enjoy a 'bath' in the bush, with lots of bubbles.
Forest spa - indulge yourself in our private spa overlooking the gorge, go home feeling relaxed and stress free.
Gazebo romantic private dinner - spoil your loved one for a totally private candle lit dinner under the gazebo. Many a proposal of marriage has been accepted in this lovely setting!

Hiking; marked trails through the forest, along the stream on the way to the waterfall.
Bird watching; we have a prolific variety of uncommon species of birds that can be seen, including a resident pair of black eagles.
Horse riding; 4 km down the hill, book a ride in our scenic valley.

Clay pigeon shooting; an interesting and testing range for the novice and experienced shooters.
