Augusta de Mist Country House

This historic Cape Dutch National Monument dating 1802 is centrally situated in the historic heart of Swellendam (the 3rd oldest settlement of South Africa). The guest house is owner managed, offering superb hospitality with great attention to detail.

There are two cottages (with king beds), two garden suites and a family unit, all set in 1.5 hectares of lovely gardens with indigenous flora and birdlife.

Arum Lily Cottage is private and spacious with a king-size bed, private lounge, spa bath, and walk-in shower.

Strelitzia Cottage has a queen-size bed, private lounge, double bath and walk-in shower.

Protea Garden Suite is larger with a queen-size bed, and two single beds, private lounge, and vintage bath

The other suites are similar, with queen beds and plenty of comfort and privacy.

Wander past the pool, over seasonal streams to stumble upon the garden cottages. Augusta's allure is obvious: simple white structures, reminiscent of the historic cottages of this region, reed ceilings, contemporary interiors and art, bucolic views and indigenous planting.
