Overview
Amukela Game Lodge is located in the Balule Private Nature Reserve which is incorporated in the Greater Kruger Park. The lodge is only 20 minutes from Hoedspruit ad it offers an African bush experience with affordable rates.

Amukela offers four African-style rondawels, accommodating a maximum of eight guests. Each rondawel has a king-size bed with a mosquito net and air-conditioning. Each en-suite bathroom has a toilet, shower and basin. On request, we can make extra beds for children. Breakfast is served in the main building where you will also find the lounge. We have satellite TV with DStv as well as magazines and books.

There is a lovely view of the bush from the terrace and our swimming pool. In the evening, enjoy the boma dinners, weather dependent, under the breathtaking stars. Sit around the campfire and listen to the voices of Africa. We will gladly inform you about the planets, stars, nebulas and more from our star deck. When possible, we set up our sky watcher telescope.

There are a lot of interesting places to visit for a full day or just a couple of hours. This makes our lodge a great place to stay for several days or even weeks. Whether you want to go on your own or do an organized trip, we can assist where possible.

Greet a new day in the bush together with an armed and qualified nature guide. Explore the fascinating nature in Africa by foot at an easy-going pace. Learn about animal tracks and behaviour, trees and bushes with medicinal properties and much more. Take a game drive in an open jeep to search for the animals, accompanied by an experienced field guide. Pre-bookings for activities are essential.

"Relatively easy access to Kruger Park through Orpen (1 hour) or Phalaborwa gate (45 mins). Accommodation and food adequate, basic even, definitely not luxurious or special, but reasonable value for the money. Lots of activities in the neighbouring areas. Friendly staff."

"Very nice, relaxing and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay very much and the food was nice. It's just a pity that they have outsourced their game drives. Miriam,Corne and staff were very helpful with arrangements for game drives, bush walks etc."

"That was a great safari. It's a nice place to stay. Not too commercial. You can see the animals in their natural habitats. The conditions of the room are good for the price."

"Unfortunately we stayed at Amukela only a day. But what a day! Our favorite place in a two-week SA holiday. Sitting by the water hole and the morning game drive were our favorite moments. Corne and Miriam were great hosts. The food was terrific and the bird sounds made us wish we had a recorder. We could go on and on. Kay and Dan"

"We stayed at the lodge as a group of 5. The accommodation was fairly basic and the food was quite average. The site did feel secure and we and if you are using it as a base for your travels in the area then I can definitely recommend it. The price was good and it's only 5-10 minutes from the main gate and you can get a hire car there easier than some of the other game lodges in Balule."

"We wanted a tranquil, comfortable place to stay, without the pressure of game drives etc.. Amukela was just the place. Corne and Miriam were great hosts and we had a breakaway that matched our expectations."
